My current status is injured runner. I am having some I.T. Band issues.  I am not letting that get me down though, because I have a goal. Summer of 2013, I will be competing in the Grand Rapids Triathlon. I it said out loud and for you all to read, so it must happen!

The idea slowly gained traction in my mind after working as a volunteer for the Grand Rapids Tri for the past year. I have to admit from the very start of joining the GR Tri family and learning what Tris are all about; I thought all of you triathletes were crazy! I still do, but now I want to join in the fun.

I am not without my worries though.

1. I am a weak swimmer.

2. The only bike I own is a mountain bike that I’ve had since I was at least thirteen (I haven’t grown much since junior high).

Even after mentioning this to many of the active triathletes who volunteer for the GR Tri, I was told countless times that it didn’t matter; I could still do a tri with a little training. So I’m taking the challenge and signing up for the Grand Rapids Triathlon, even though I am not triathlete…yet.
