Grand Rapids Triathlon is about more than just a race. While swimming, biking and running is the avenue, the event’s motivation is to encourage the community to come together, to support one another and to accomplish their overall health goals.

We are proud to partner with organizations in the community that share that motivation. Priority Health focuses on how to improve health, inspire hope and save lives” for people in Michigan and nationwide.

Priority Health has been a long-time GRTri sponsor because they know that “not only does the event support physical wellbeing by offering an opportunity to compete and train in a statewide triathlon, but it supports mental and emotional wellbeing by bringing individuals and communities together to rally and cheer one another on toward the finish line.”

We were grateful to learn more about what Priority Health is doing for our community and promoting overall health and wellbeing:

How is Priority Health preparing for GRTri this year?
Priority Health is supporting all of the athletes leading up to race day and will be there to cheer them on June 19 and 20! We are also developing some new gear for our Priority Health and Champion athletes to wear for GRTri and other events this summer.

What training programs have you provided this year for those who are getting back into community events after last year’s shutdowns?
Our Priority Health Champions program offers a way for active, supportive people to virtually connect all over the state and work on their personal health goals, active lifestyle and training for races and other events. Champions come together to share their stories, inspire others, offer training and fitness tips, and cheer each other on. It offers a great way for individuals to find motivation and advice from fellow athletes as they train for community events.

How does Priority Health promote overall health and wellness in the community?
We’re committed to removing barriers to quality health and wellness through affordable plans and free resources. Priority Health partners with providers, employers and state organizations to help our community live healthier — including those who are underserved or living with chronic conditions. Beyond the extra support our health plans provide, investing in our own communities is essential — it’s our responsibility as a nonprofit company. That’s why we give back in sponsorships and philanthropy by teaming up with organizations that align with our mission and values.

Why is better health for the community important?
At Priority Health, we believe all people deserve to live a healthy life. Change is possible when we link arms with community partners across Michigan to improve health — especially among our most vulnerable populations. Improving health outcomes across the state, nation and world begins in the community, which is why it is important to take action to better the health of our community members.
